Li Qiuyuan (plays Wei Tuo)

First of all, thank you The Chinese Artists Association of Hong Kong for the opportunity! "Birthday Celebration at Xianghua Mountain" is an ancient stage play with a strong sense of ritual. in the country, the "Fragrant" drama is rarely performed anymore. Fortunately, Hong Kong still retains it very well.

When I received this assignment, it was quite stressful. Since I have never sung this play, I can't act it. So I paid a visit to Mr. Yuen Siu-Fai and asked him for advice. At his home, he taught "Wei Tuojia" step by step, and also analyzed and shared with me the characteristics and inheritance relationship of this character. This play was originally told to him by his master Mak Bing-Wing when he was young, and the biggest attraction of this play is the "Weituo Stand" dedicated to Wei Tuo.

Actually, I acted once three years ago. The most profound meaning lies in the word "inheritance". Moreover, Wei Tuo's clothing is also very unique. If you haven't learned it, you really don't know how to wear it. This also needs to be passed down.

Skills are passed down from person to person, and the master leads the way. Cultivation depends on the individual. Although Brother Hui told me about this play, when I had free time, I ran to the rehearsal venue to get up, put on my high boots, and walked over and over again. Huang Xiaofeng (plays Guanyin)

When I learned that I would be playing the role of Guanyin in this year's Master's Birthday "Fragrant Flower Mountain Birthday", I felt happy and nervous at the same time, because for me, this was a kind of affirmation and encouragement. It’s just that teacher Wu Meiying was busy with performance work and could not find time to teach in person. Later, I watched teacher Wu Meiying’s performance material, which was really exciting! In addition to imitating her martial arts, during the transformation process of Guanyin, Teacher Wu is very lifelike in every move and style. And the amount is quite large. It seems that there is no other way except "practice" or "practice".

This performance is my first stage play since I started acting, and it is full of special significance. This time, through exposure to the drama "Scent", I felt the freehand momentum of the ancient platoon and the weight of the ancient art. This is what we, the later scholars, want to inherit, because this is the root of our Cantonese opera.
