Barwo Channel: Online Class of Cantonese Opera - Episode 41 Singing: Paizi (3)

In this episode, we would be talking about the ” Birthday Celebration at Mount Heung Fa ”. ” Birthday Celebration at Mount Heung Fa” is a traditional set piece of Cantonese Opera,Also the play that would be performed during the 28th of the 9th month in lunar calendar. It is composed with different Paizis, Most of them were used for helping the actor’s movement. We have chosen two special Paizis “ The overture of Leungchou (梁州序)” and “ The Beauty of Spring (三春錦)”. These two paizis were once lost, yet during 2017, The Chinese Artists Association of Hong Kong were invited by the LCSD to reconstruct it with the help of musician, Mr. Ko Yun Hung. The two are both paizis with lyrics, in the following demonstration, they would sing in Koonwa (官話).
