Barwo Channel: Online Class of Cantonese Opera - Episode 13 Singing: Naamyam

In this episode, we would talk about Naamyam (南音), which we would have Jingsin Naamyam (正線南音), Yeefan Naamyam (乙反南音), Fai (fast) Naamyam (快南音) and Laushui Naamyam (流水南音). The Sentence structure of Naamyam starts in three syllables and three syllables. The seven-character sentences are divided into parts of four and three syllables. The first sentence is in oblique tone, the second sentence is in the first tone of Cantonese, the Yamping tone (陰平聲). Then the alternation repeats in cycles until the very last sentence which will ends in the forth tone, the Yeungping tone (陽平聲).
