Banhong Style (板腔體) has two major categories, “Bongzi” (梆子) and “Yeewong” (二黃), in this episode we would be talking about Gwanfa (滾花). Gwanfa is commonly seen in a play, it include Tuenkui (short verses, 短句), Cheungkui (long verses, 長句) and Yifan Gwanfa (乙反滾花). Gwanfa got its name by its unique arrangement. The actor will first sing freely with a melody that fits the atmosphere, then the music would mimic the melody he sung, making an echoing effect.
