Episode 13 Singing: Naamyam (南音)

In this episode, we will introduce Naamyam. Naamyam can generally be categorized into "Jingsin Naamyam" (正線南音), "Ti-Fa Naamyam" (乙反南音), "Fai (fast) Naamyam" (快南音) and "Laushui Naamyam" (流水南音). In terms of tunes, there are "Paujauhong" (拋舟腔), "Bingwanhong" (冰魂腔). The Sentence structure of Naamyam starts in three syllables and three syllables. The seven-character sentences are divided into parts of four and three syllables. The first sentence is in oblique tone, the second sentence is in the first tone of Cantonese, the Some of the songs, which sung in Mandarin, usually accompanied by "Suona" (嗩吶) or other music accompaniment Paizi originated from Kunqu Opera or "Yikyeunghong" (弋陽腔). "Yamping" tone (陰平聲). Then the alternation repeats in cycles until the very last sentence which will ends in the forth tone, the "Yeungping" tone (陽平聲).
