Episode 8 Singing: Yiwong Sanban (二黃散板) (1)

"You sing Bongzi (梆子) when you win, you sing Yiwong when you lose" .Being one of the two major systems of singing styles in Cantonese opera, Yiwong is featured with a relatively bleak and desolate melody. In this episode, we will introduce and demonstrate "Souban" (首板), "Shakban" (煞板), and "Doban" (倒板) of the "Yiwong Sanban". While "Souban" (首板) often usually appears at the very beginning of a play, as a "First Sentence". "Shakban" (煞板) is. a second sentence that is usually used in the end of a scene.
